A PERFECT ADJUSTMENT
Properly fitting your dog's accessories is essential for their comfort and safety. Whether it's a collar or a harness, a good fit can prevent injuries and ensure your four-legged friend feels comfortable.
Here are some tips to help you properly fit your dog's accessories.
Choose the right size
COLLAR
- Measure your dog's neck : Use a soft tape measure to take the circumference of your dog's neck. Allow several inches of margin to ensure the collar is neither too tight nor too loose.
- Size Selection : Refer to our Size Guide to choose the right size for your dog.
- Check regularly : Puppies grow quickly, so be sure to check and adjust the collar regularly.
HARNESS
- Measure chest circumference : Use a soft tape measure to find the circumference of your dog's chest. The harness should fit around the widest part of your dog's chest. As with the collar, allow a few inches of extra room.
- Size Selection : Refer to our Size Guide to choose the right size for your dog.
- Try on multiple sizes : Every dog has a different body shape. Feel free to try on multiple sizes to find the one that best fits your dog.
Here is our Size Guide:
Adjust the accessories correctly
COLLAR
- Adjustment : The collar is adjustable with a sliding buckle that allows you to lengthen or shorten the length to the nearest millimeter. Make sure you can fit two fingers between the collar and your dog's neck to prevent it from being too tight.
- Check : Make sure the collar is securely fastened flat. Check that the clip is closed properly and that it does not pinch the dog's hair.
HARNESS
- Setting :
-Open the clips and pass your dog's head through the front part, position the harness on his back, safety handle facing the sky.
-Close one clip to adjust the 2 back straps more easily and gradually.
-Close the second clip making sure you can fit 2 fingers between the straps and your dog's body to ensure a comfortable and secure fit.
-Adjust the 2 neck straps so that they are positioned above your dog's shoulders and that this neck is completely free.
- Verification :
-The harness should fit snugly, it should not hinder your dog's natural movements. It should neither be too tight nor too loose. Make sure that no hair is pinched in the clips.
-Walk your little one with the harness on to make sure it doesn't rub or cause discomfort.
-Do not hesitate to regularly check the adjustment of the straps and the general condition of the harness.
Be alert for signs of discomfort
- Behavior : If your dog scratches, tries to remove the accessory, or seems uncomfortable, the accessory may be poorly fitted.
- Health : If you come back from a walk in the countryside, check that no parasites are hiding under your little one's accessories. Also make sure that no awns or foreign bodies have gotten stuck there.
